WeDevelopment Federal Credit Union proudly announces Shirley Saffold as its new Chief Executive Officer, bringing her vision of deep community engagement and partnership to the forefront of the credit union’s mission. A Kansas City native, Shirley is committed to fostering financial empowerment and building strong relationships with local organizations to drive positive change on the Eastside of KC.

Shirley’s journey in the banking industry began at UMB Bank during her high school years, and she has since amassed over twenty-eight years of experience. She spent nearly nineteen years at Central Bank of Kansas City, honing her expertise in community banking. Before joining WeDevelopment FCU, Shirley played a pivotal role at Mazuma Credit Union, where she managed the busiest inner-city branch and later oversaw three key locations in the downtown and Plaza areas of Kansas City.

Her passion for community service is reflected in her active involvement with various local organizations, including the Crossroads Community Association Board (Downtown KC, Arts District), the Caring for Kids committee through the Kansas City Public School Board, Crossroads Hospice, the ArtsKC grant committee, and the Downtown Council Human Services committee. Shirley’s commitment extends beyond her professional life, as she continuously seeks ways to uplift and support the community through financial literacy and wellness initiatives.

“I am dedicated to engaging with the Eastside of KC and partnering with local organizations to reshape the narrative and legacy of this area,” said Shirley Saffold. “Together, we can transform the stigma and create a community where everyone has the opportunity to build
generational wealth.”
